I don't need to be black

I don't need to be black
to know about the struggle
I don't need to be black
to know you'll be the one to bust my bubble
I don't need to be black
to know about the hurt
I don't need to be black
to get treated like dirt
I don't need to be black to know about the past
I don't need to be black
to know although quiet racism is spreading like wildfire fast
I don't need to be black
to understand the troubles of the land
I don't need to be black
to be know that I'm being slap with the back of that white hand
I don't need to be black
to understand or care
I don't need to be black
to know that nothing is fair
I don't need to be black
to know that all is bullshit
I don't need to be black
to know when I'm going to get hit
Although my skin is light and I come from a different place
To others that don't know I'm just another black face
So even though I'm not black
I'm still not blind
to know that equality is what were trying to find
So I don't need to be black
I continue to repeat
I don't need to be black as I go sit in front of the bus
Grateful for my seat
